Turn Your Art into an NFT

NFT art has blown up on the internet and one of the most popular searches is how to create NFT art. I’m a watercolor artist by trade. I create traditional illustration, but it wasn’t that hard to roll those skills over into digital NFT art. Picking subject matter is the most challenging part. In this article, I’ll break down the simple steps for creating NFT art.

Step 1: Pick out your artwork

The first step to creating your first NFT is to select your subject matter or pick out a piece of art you have already created. It’s important to do research about what is selling. Once you find your niche pick out a collection of at least 5-10 pieces with the same theme.

Step 2: High Resolution Scans

You’re going to either go to a kinkos and have your artwork scanned at 300dpi, or use a home scanner and make sure it’s high resolution.

Step 3: Select your NFT Marketplace

I chose Rarible for my NFT listings, but you might decide on a different platform to sell your art. If you’d like a better breakdown of that information, then read my article that goes more in depth about it here.

Step 4: Set up your account and purchase Ethereum.

You’ll need Ethereum in a private wallet to pay to list your artwork. This is the way your art is minted. You set your own pricing. Once you have your artwork scanned you simply upload the file to the platform and set a price for the buyer. The artwork will be listed on the market.

Step 5: Promote Your NFT Listing

I recommend that before you embark on this journey you have an audience. There have been many artists who got lucky and sold art or made a name for themselves on these platforms. However, the other side of the coin is that many artists already had reputations online prior to selling their art. The NFT marketspace was an additional revenue for them to mint their art and sell reproductions. If you have a mailing list, then you are one step ahead of the game.

Thats pretty much it!
